Admitted students with college or university credit will be able to access their official transfer credit evaluation shortly before their New Student Orientation by logging into MSU's Student Information System. Here, students can view their evaluation and see how courses completed at other institutions transfer to MSU. Students can also visit transfer.msu.edu to identify courses that may transfer to MSU.
Students transferring from two-year institutions may transfer a maximum of 60 semester credits for use toward a bachelor's degree. Course work assigned a grade of 2.0 or higher may be recognized in transfer. Any courses taken that resulted in a grade below 2.0 are not eligible for transfer credit. Michigan State University does not cooperate with any third party summer programs (e.g., LION International, AUIA, etc.) for transfer credit.
Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, students can receive transfer credit (meaning the university will accept the course) for courses taken during the spring term of 2020 at another institution if there is a grade of S in a S/NS grade system, or a minimum of a 1.0 if the transfer course uses a numerical grading system.

Students may receive credit through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program, College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), Dantes Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) and International A Level examinations. Strong scores may allow for a course waiver or course credit. All scores must be sent to the Office of Admissions directly from the testing agency.

Dual enrollment, also known as concurrent enrollment, is when high school students enroll in college courses to earn transferable college credit. If you were ever dually enrolled at an accredited college or university while you were a high school student, you may be eligible to receive credit for course work completed at that institution. Mathematics courses for high school completion should extend through the level of a calculus preparatory class. Courses beyond these basic expectations that are transferable to MSU will be considered for credit. Students can use transfer.msu.edu to identify courses that may transfer to MSU.

If you earned college credit through an early/middle program, you are encouraged to use transfer.msu.edu to identify which of these courses may transfer to MSU.
