Interested in a public relations degree?

The public relations major provides students with a comprehensive and up-to-date set of skills that will prepare them to compete successfully for internships and jobs — and even prepare for jobs that have not even been created yet.

This major is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the role of public relations in society, along with knowledge and experience in developing public relations materials for use in mass media and social media management, as well as corporate, governmental, and nonprofit organizational settings.

Graduates with a public relations degree will have studied

  • writing for traditional and social media;
  • public relations techniques;
  • public relations strategies;
  • portfolio development;
  • public relations campaign planning;
  • diversity, equity and inclusion in public relations;
  • public relations ethics;
  • and more.

Students may also choose to pursue related minors in advertising analytics, entrepreneurship and innovation, sales leadership or sports business management.
